Interesting Article on Barack Obama

Barack Obama impressed me today after reading an article on Yahoo where he mentions his “personal walk with Jesus Christ.” Rumors have been circulating the Internet questioning his religion, although he adamantly states he is a Christian.

He has an amazing life story no-doubt; however, I question his political experience. One thing I find interesting is his name: Barack Hussein Obama—quite different from the traditional names of former presidents. However, does his name really matter? Can you really judge someone on this basis alone? I would hope not…

From Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey:

“It's probably not something that appeals to him, but I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim. There's a billion people on the planet that are Muslims and I think that experience is a big deal." Kerrey added, "He's got a whale of a lot more intellectual talent than I've got as well.”

it would do you well to look up the church he attends in Chicago. It is on his website. Trinity United Church of Christ subscribes to the "Black Value System"( which is akin to a black KKK) furthermore, I find his core beliefs racist and unpatriotic. He has virtually no experience. The only way he was elected Sen. in IL was by getting all the other candidates kicked off the ballot. He is a bunch of hot air playing oneupmanship with Hillary. You want to know a REAL man for the job? FRED THOMPSON!!!!

Someone who has attended Harvard and Columbia, and has taught at U of Chicago school of law is certainly more than "a bunch of hot air playing oneupmanship..." While I question some of his economic policies on the domestic agenda, I think that overall he is a qualified candidate. Though his religion, to me, is absolutely irrelevant, I find his Muslim background an interesting part of his overall persona.

As for your comment on his association with a certain church, I am quite skeptical of how reliable one's associations are as a guide to one's personal beliefs. Certainly, the propaganda served at that church is distasteful. However, Obama has on more than one occasion condemned the professing of his former pastor. This, I am willing to say, is more than just self-serving, political rhetoric.

Obama is not without a flaw - as is true of any candidate - but I would not put him and Thompson on the same page, or in the same book, for that matter.
